Just the opposite of inserting an exotic background. The photo restoration technique of removing a person or object from a photo is the easy part - the hard part is to replace the person that is removed with a continuation of the background. Some are more difficult than others. In general, the greater the complexity of the background, the more difficult and time consuming the replacement.
P.S. My apologies to those couples below who are actually still together. Their photos were just too irresistable to not use.
Remove a person . . . $50 and up
Removing the dancer in red from behind Ulla was a snap; every part of him was completely behind her, and no part of Ulla had to be reconstructed. Also, the background to replace was solid black.
Taking Anthony out of the picture above and leaving just Kelly was a bit more difficult, but still fairly easy. Now Anthony's just a shadow of his former self. And the decision to crop the picture saved me (and Kelly's wallet) from having to replace the angled window behind Anthony's head.

Marie's photo below was also fairly simple. In this case, not only her friend but the entire background was removed and replaced by two stylized backgrounds. There was just one difficulty: removing the hand on Marie's shoulder and replacing it with strands of her hair.

Now, this was a job and a half. Removing myself from behind Kirsten, my first ex-wife, was no problem. Next was the background replacement. The curtains went fairly smoothly; I simply extended them down from above, but then I had to do the curtain hem, the molding and the wall. That entire section had to be reconstructed from the tiny portion at the far-left of the picture, and then the hem had to be extended and manipulated to appear natural. Thank goodness I don't have that many ex-wives.

Yes, I know what you must be saying to yourself by now: "This guy at SmileDog is much too serious, he oughta' lighten up." O.K., here's some comic relief.
